On August 23 2022, the Launch Meeting and the First Council Meeting of Bionic Education Foundation (BEF) of Jilin Province were held, Jilin University, Changchun.
Attenders were Prof. Luquan Ren, the Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tian Lin, the Secretary of the Leading Party Group of Jilin Provincial Association for Science and Technology, Zhengyu Feng, the Executive Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of Jilin University, Zhiwei Wu, the director of Social Organization Administration Bureau of Jilin Provincial Civil Affairs Department. The Meetings were presided by Baoquan Yang, the Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, and Professor Lei Ren, the Secretary General of the Foundation.
The donation ceremony was held at the beginning. Two million RMB was donated by Academician Luquan Ren to Bionic Education Foundation (BEF) for cultivating and supporting outstanding students and teachers researching at Bionic Science and Engineering field.
Academician Luquan Ren said that he had been thinking about a sustainable way to donate money for supporting young standouts at bionics over the years. After some policy consulting, with the strong support from relevant administrations，we proposed the application in September 2021, and got approved in June 2022.
In the meeting, Zhengyu Feng expressed his congratulations and suggestions. First, the educating and researching spirit from Academician Luquan Ren should be keeping on. Second, council members should keep management and duties on mind. Third, alumni can be included, and make more opportunities and influence for BEF.
Subsequently, Tian Lin said, first, BEF should be responsible for education and cultivating standouts, as supports for accelerating the high-level innovative construction on Jilin Province. Second, BEF should expand the ranks and team, remain such good situation. Third, BEF should focus on the development strategy of Jilin province, encouraging faculties of scientific and technological work hard and achieving provincial goal.
Some representatives attended the meeting. They were from Science and Technology Association of Jilin Province, Social Organization Administration Bureau of Civil Affairs of Jilin Province, Xugong Group, Science and Technology Bureau of Weihai of Shandong Province, Weihai Bionic Institute of Jilin University, Secretariat of International Bionic Engineering Society, Journal of Bionic Engineering. And representatives from relevant departments and College of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, College of Bionics Science and Engineering, College of Automotive Engineering, College of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, College of Business and Management, Jilin University, Key Laboratory of Engineering Bionics of the Ministry of Education, etc.
