On November 5th 2022, China-Japan-ROK Youth Forum: Bionic Engineering and Modern Agricultural Development sub-forum was successfully held at Jilin University. This meeting contacted other campuses as online meeting. The sub-forum was organized by the College of Biological and Agricultural Engineering and the College of Biomimetic Science and Engineering of Jilin University. The mission is to build an international academic cooperative channel for teachers and students from China, Japan and ROK, and to promote the technology application of biomimetic engineering, and to cope the opportunities and challenges in modern agriculture.
Prof. Haiye Yu, the dean of the College of Biological and Agricultural Engineering and the College of Bionic Science and Engineering, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The sub-forum was presided by Prof. Zhihui Zhang. The sub-forum was divided into three themes: "Biomimetic engineering", "Modern Agricultural Engineering Development" and "Sustainable Development of Modern Agro-Food System". More than 40 experts and scholars and 60 students participated and exchanged their ideas. They were from Hokkaido University, Nagasaki University, University of Tsukuba, Agricultural and food research institutions, Gangwon National University, Keimyung University, Institute of Science and Technology, and Institute of Mechanical Materials, Jilin University, Jilin Agricultural University, Jiangsu University, Zhejiang University and China Agricultural University.
The session of "Biomimetic Engineering" was hosted by the Department of Bionic Engineering and presided by Professor Zhenning Liu. Associate Professor Heo Yun Seok from Keimyung University, Senior researcher Lee Bo-Yeon, from Institute of Mechanical and Materials, Senior Researcher Han Hyung-Seop from Institute of Science and Technology, Professor Jie Zhao and Researcher Zhengzhi Mu from Jilin University respectively gave their keynote presentations on biomimetic health, biomimetic machinery and biomimetic material engineering, and had discussion with the teachers and students.
The year 2022 is the 50th anniversary of normalization of China-Japan diplomatic relations, and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and the ROK. Jilin University has held "China-Japan-ROK Youth Forum" since August to November this year. In aiming for further deepening the friendly relations and making exchanges and cooperation between China, Japan and ROK students.
The forum invited young scholars and students from China, Japan and the ROK online together. The main theme was "Challenges for young people from China, Japan and ROK during Covid-19 Time". And other 10 topics were "Urban and Rural Cultural and Social Transformation and Youth Development in East Asia", "Cross-integration of advanced mechanical technology and materials, biology and bionic technology among China, Japan and ROK", "Frontier of Bionic engineering and intelligent Agriculture ", "Future-oriented Educational Exchange and cooperation between China, Japan and ROK Youths", "Agriculture and the Future", "New Thinking of Sports culture Exchange among China, Japan and ROK Youth during Covid-19 Time", "Asian advertising Creativity and youth Literature”, "China-Japan-ROK Digital Economy Cooperation and Development Forum", "Opportunities and Challenges for biomedical Research in the Post-Covid-19 Era" and "Building flexible and intelligent Water System for an Uncertain Future".
